We've moved. Yeah, now we have our own domain name: www.brunchline.org. But, you'll have noticed that the counter is broken. Big whoop. And maybe some links are busted. Let me know.

Expect more changes in coming weeks or months, but don't hold your breath!

Yes, I've actually uploaded recent pictures!!! I still have others that haven't been uploaded... soon, soon....

There's a brief almost-mention of brunch in the latest issue (#5) of Outburn Magazine. In a blurb about this year's Industro-Rave, they write:

Besides the two nights at the Trocadero, the Friday evening before there was an industry dinner and on Sunday afternoon there was a brunch giving everybody plenty of time and opportunity to network and make contacts in a more peaceful environment than the club.

"A brunch"?? Hey, this isn't just any brunch! Oh well, maybe next year.

Finally updated the brunchography and such. There are likely lots of errors, but who cares?

The SF Bay Guardian had a recent article on all-day breakfast-eating. If you missed it, check it out online. The activities described should be somewhat familiar to all brunchkertors, except that I think in the article they're finishing breakfast at 1:30, which is just when we get in line...

Phone line update. I don't know how many people are actually using it, but it sure gets a lot of prank calls. Hmmm...

J A N U A R Y   3 ,   1 9 9 8
Happy New Year! And check out the new BLA phone info line... (415) 339-8761. Find out where the next brunch will be, even when you can't access a computer. Tell all your net-challenged friends. Phone in and leave a message: suggestions for future brunch locations; info of interest to brunchkertors; or prank phone calls even.

BLA-LA update. The LA brunch branch now has a web site at http://www-scf.usc.edu/~alanis/BLA-LA. Check it out!

BLA-LA Land. There is now an "official" (whatever that means) Los Angeles branch of Brunch Line Assembly, thanks to Mike Hell of Kontrol Faktory. A small contingent of the SF BLA Team were on hand to witness the inaugural brunch: check out Lucretia's report, including photos!

In the news: Last Friday, August 29, at 2:14 AM EST, SkyNet became self-aware and started a war that killed 3 billion people. Have a nice weekend!

This week's brunch will be a Tetsuo II party: come on down, eat crepes, and after brunch, hurl it up during Tetsuo II: Body Hammer showing at UC Theatre (2036 University Ave at Shattuck) at 3:30 PM.

Yeeha... finally updated the brunchography and uploaded some new pictures. Check out the COP vs BLA brunch.

"More machine now than man" is how Obi-Wan Kenobi described Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. Find out all the details at the Injuries of Darth Vader home page. Here's an excerpt:

"There is a feature at the shoulder joint which clearly is not natural. The attachment to the torso is a circular disk joint of some kind. It seems to be articulated or supported by a pneumatic mechanism. Vader's left arm almost certainly consists either substantially or entirely of cybernetic replacements. "

J U N E   1 4 ,   1 9 9 7
Yeah OK, I've been slacking. I'm weeks behind on brunchography updates and picture uploads. Part of this delay has to do with the fact that my nice semi-automated process for generating thumbnails etc. has to be re-engineered for the output from the Agfa ePhoto... I won't bore you with the technical details.

J U N E   3 ,   1 9 9 7
Rosie the Rivethead.. er.. Riveter passed away recently. Read the CNN report and check out the Rosie the Riveter Exhibit page to learn more about this historical industrial worker. (Thanks to Paul Brousseau for telling me about this link.)

susan and cole Here's a picture from the last brunch. How cute. More pictures Real Soon Now.

Food-related link of the moment. Read about "gourmand syndrome," an eating disorder which seems to be related to injury on the right side of the brain.

I should be getting a new digital camera today, which means more pictures without having to lug my PowerBook around on my back.

M A Y   2 4 ,   1 9 9 7
I have to catch up on the many brunch name suggestions that have come through the Gastronomicon page in the last few months. I haven't updated that page, but here are some of the recent suggestions:

[I'm not sure who all of these people are, in case you were wondering :-)]

M A Y   2 2 ,   1 9 9 7
Whoops, it's been a while. Not much to report here... more later.

M A Y   7 ,   1 9 9 7
Ok ok, I've been deliquent in uploading stuff recently. Anyway, the pictures for the recent Squat & Gobble brunch are up now.

League for the Hard of HearingI dunno, I really like this logo for some reason. International Noise Awareness Day just happened recently (April 30), but it didn't have anything to do with experimental music as far as I could tell. I might try to find out if they have any stickers or something for it regardless.

A P R I L   2 4 ,   1 9 9 7
I uploaded the pictures for this last brunch, the post-diva-x-machina-release-party-at-so-what brunch.

The first cut of the Places section is done, although there's a lot of information missing, like addresses etc.

Kamio, friend of 1-year-brunch-attendee Robert Earl 23, has manipulated some images from the 1-year brunch. Check it out.

A P R I L   1 2 ,   1 9 9 7
Ok, so I haven't updated anything in a long time. Sorry. I should have those analog brunch pictures from Papa Joe's scanned in Real Soon Now.

News flash: U.S. Techno-Industrial Base Eroding Due To Foreign Competition. Thanks to Keith Crosley for informing me of this link.

Yay, more pictures.

Is ramen industrial? I don't know, but this news article on the World Ramen Summit is food related, anyway.

The Official List of Stupid Band Names contains some industrial-related band names, including "Frente! 242", "JFKMFDMC," and "Machines of Loving Grace Jones."

A Split Second. This year will be one second longer than usual; visit the leap second alert page at the Directorate of Time for the details, and also note the industrial image at the bottom.

Cool music link of the day. I just found out today that you can listen to KDVS over the internet via RealAudio! If you have RealAudio installed, check out http://www.ece.ucdavis.edu/dspc/kdvs.ram. Now I finally get a chance to listen to brunchkertor X-ta's Industrial Noise Control and other great industrial shows from the comfort of my own home in San Francisco.

I was reading Karl Capek's R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), which explains the intro page (if you bookmarked this page instead of <http://www.blarg.net/~wal/bla>, then check it out). Here's the original passage which so inspired me. For more R.U.R. information, try this cool R.U.R. page, which I found by searching Infoseek.

Industrial graffiti. Yesterday, as I was walking around my neighborhood, I saw the word "BRAP" scrawled into the sidewalk. Even though someone else might argue that it actually read "BRAD" (especially since the word below it was "CUNNINGHAM"), I like to think that there's a little bit of Skinny Puppy immortalized in a sidewalk in Noe Valley.

Intellectual industrial link of the day: RoboCop : The Crisis of Subjectivity is not the name of another RoboCop sequel, but it's interesting reading regardless.

69Brunch Line Assembly is now 69 brunches old, whatever that means. We celebrated by having our post-Valentine's brunch at Valentine's Café, which was appropriately decorated with suicide notes--er, love letters, rather--under the table glass. By some strange coincidence, the same number of people showed up as we told the restuarant. Highlights include the exposé of Ron's sordid past; the recurring firetruck; Erin's reappearance after many months; and, of course, the luuuuuv muffins. I took just a few pictures.

If you've been here before you'll notice that things are a little different... I got bored... let me know what you think. The change is mainly aesthetic; just about everything is where it used to be. There's a new section, "Places," which will someday list the different brunch venues (yeah, I know, another empty section, but I promise the Perpetrators section will go back online soon).

The "What's New" section is now on the main page (here), and I hope to update this page more often with items of interest to the industrial- and food-minded... for example, if you need your large caliber weapons tested, check this out.

Like everything else on the web, this site is under major construction. Expect changes in the next little while. Time to do more digging...

The brunchography has been updated again at last. No more new pictures, sorry... I'm running out of disk space!
The Perpetrators page has been taken offline temporarily because it's so hideously out of date. Watch this space.

To cut down on the number of files on this site (I'm hitting my disk limits), I'm implementing the thumbnails as client-side image maps rather than a bunch of little GIFs. Let me know if this is too much of a pain. So far I've only converted a few: check out Nov 5/95, Nov 12/95 and Dec 3/95.

Playing around with using tables and a new format. I don't know how well the AOL browser deals with it. Sorry. In any case, I'm hoping to change the format every couple of weeks anyway, if I have the time.

J U L Y   3 ,   1 9 9 6
Whoops, it's been a while. Added some pictures, although there's still a couple of brunches missing that I do have pictures for. Brunchography finally mostly up to date.

Perpetrators update. Added links from names if I knew them. If you want a link from your name (or want one changes or removed) let me know. I wish I could remember James' friends' names, though.

New organization of the brunch pages. Not really that different, but we have a spiffy text toolbar at the top of the page just like everyone else.
